Make Use of Conversational Language & Long-Tail Keywords

When people type their queries into a search engine, they usually use clipped phrases with short-tail keywords like breakfast buffet restaurants near me or advertising agencies in Pune. However, when people use voice search to find information they use more conversational phrases with long-tail keywords like “Where is the nearest supermarket?” or “Give me a list of ad agencies near me.” 

Using natural conversational language in your content will help your site rank higher on search engine results pages for voice search. One way to do so is by writing your website very similar to how humans talk.

Use filler words like the, for, a, in, I, find, help, etc.  to help your content match the phrases used in voice searches and commands. While these words may seem redundant for traditional searches and SEO, they go a long way to optimize content for voice queries. 

Make Local SEO a Priority 

When someone conducts a voice search on their smartphone, there’s a good chance they’re on the go and looking for something nearby. Something like the nearest salon or hospital, the nearest shoe store or showroom. 

Therefore, one of the simplest ways to optimize for voice search is by building on your local brand presence. Local SEO targets potential customers in nearby areas who are more likely to buy your services and is also one of the best ways to optimize for voice search with higher conversion rates from targeted queries.

Your Google Business Profile listing is the most significant component here, which will help your brand appear at the top positions when users conduct local searches. 

Make sure to fill out your listings completely, including your business’ hours, the entire address and its Google pin, contact information, as well as any keywords that combine hyper local information with the context of your business. For e.g., “Best Physiotherapist in Shivaji Nagar”.  The more information you provide on these listings, the more likely your business gets increased organic traffic from voice assistant.

Build FAQ Pages for Common Queries 

By now you may already know that having an FAQ page on your site is great for your SEO. It’s absolutely true. SEO experts advise creating content pages which have ready answers to the questions users may pose. Keep the answers detailed, but not too long; users prefer quick answers. Also, voice search answers tend to be on the shorter side.

Consumers usually search for information using the 5Ws and H “who, what, when, where, why and how.”  Therefore, the questions on your FAQ page should also begin with those words. Follow up on the conversational tone mentioned above and keep your answers concise.

Additionally, make sure the FAQ page can be easily located on the website to improve website visibility with voice search and make it clear what people should do if they have questions after reading your answers.

Make your Content Multilingual

If your brand has a diverse pool of visitors, who come from varied linguistic backgrounds, your content needs to be understood and accessible to all. For voice search optimization, the quality of your content’s translation needs to be very accurate. Get a native speaker to translate and proofread your copy and content. This will ensure that when voice assistants read your content, your brand sounds like a trusted, authoritative source and you stand out in voice search results.
