Outstream Video leads the way forward in the Digital Realm?

by 3dots-blog October 21, 2022

As much as we despise it, there are times when we feel like not opening YouTube just because we are pointlessly forced to take up YouTube Premium. We hardly remember the last time when we saw a long-format video on YouTube without an ad popping up in between. Today, videos are the way to engage with people because static content seldom entices them. Anything that doesn’t move or talk back to the audience, is considered to be dormant or worse – dead! Here’s taking a sneak peek into the world of a new format of video ads – Outstream videos. They are all about breaking the barrier. Let’s dwell deep into all that we know about this video format.

Outstream Videos 101

If you haven’t heard about this term till now, don’t feel bad, because there are a lot many like you who haven’t. In simple terms, outstream video ads are those that appear in non-video platforms such as blogs, article pages… any platform that’s text-based. They play when you are reading an article and they play either pre-roll, mid-roll or post-roll on the video content.

What triggered this change? Well, if there was a play button in the video and the ad appeared while you are reading an article, you would simply scroll over and get back to reading, but if the video played on its own (without music), you would at least consider waiting for a while, watching the video, if it were intriguing enough.

The result mainly depends on the placement of these outstream videos on various platforms. While some clients do not vouch for this because this has very limited reach and niche visibility, others tend to choose this to break the monotony and make an appearance.

The Perks of going the Outstream way!

When a client chooses outstream video content, your audience does not have to come to you, but instead you go to them. You can find them whenever they are online and that’s the beauty of this format. Here are a few advantages as to why, as an advertiser, you need to suggest this format to your client:

It does not breach privacy: The outstream ads are less intrusive in a way and aren’t imposed by user experience. The prerogative usually lies with the audience. If they like the content, they can continue watching, if not, they can simply scroll down.

Publishers can make more money: As shown in the graph above, those who choose outstream ads, have seen great results across all categories.

Outstream ads are fraud-free: When clients choose outstream ads, they need not worry much about fraudulent practices. These ads are launched only when the user registers an action. These ads can’t be played by bots and that’s how it has been till date.

In a recent survey, 88% of people said they would like to see more videos from brands in the current year. So, advertising folks know why there’s so much demand for videos these days and how outstream videos are charting the path for a flourishing future in the digital marketing realm.
